Fostering works because of the “do it anyway” people — 6 Comments

    • Just call your local department of human services, or whatever they call it in your state. They can get you set up with some info.

    • Hi Lynn, If you live in the Milwaukee, WI area call 414-KID-HERO. Otherwise, please contact your local department of social services for information on how to become a foster parent. Thank you!

  1. Yes, this is so true. No matter how insane people think we are as foster parents, that’s all you can do. When that call comes in, and you have a million reasons why it’s not the right time or the best idea for you at the time, you throw them aside and do it anyway!

  2. Very beautiful. It reminds me…”God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called” DO IT ANYWAYS! Thank you for serving. God bless you any ways, all ways. Amen

  3. I think there might be shortage of the “Do It Anyway” kind of people. A very small percentage of people persevere and an even smaller percentage of kids persevere through the system. I think a great effort should be made to understand why most foster parents are licensed less then a year on average. I hope we might see a blog titled “Fostering Works because the System Supports its Foster Families”.
